Thanks for stopping by. I am a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer based in Uckfield, East Sussex I photograph weddings in Brighton and across East and West Sussex, Surrey, Kent and across the UK I also photograph destination weddings worldwide. Being a photographer of people makes you look at life differently I think. In a world that is always so busy, where it’s often hard to take a break, I try to stop when I can and to see life in photographs. I allow myself to be truly present in a moment I find beautiful, no matter how simple and capture it in my mind as if I have pressed the shutter on my camera.
Over the years I have translated that through my work and honed my skills as a documentary wedding photographer, a story teller….
"Regional Wedding Documentary Photographer of the Year 2017." - Master Photographer Association
As a photographer I am constantly striving to learn more in order to push my photography to the next level. Last year, I became the only female ambassador in the UK for global lighting company Phottix. Becoming an ambassador has enabled me to work creatively with their fantastic portable studio lighting systems in order to produce stunning wedding portraits for my couples.
This year, I also scooped the award of Regional Wedding Documentary Photographer of the Year with the MPA, as well as Fashion and Boudoir Photographer of the Year!
I have also had the opportunity to widen my portfolio as a destination wedding photographer this year too with amazing weddings both in New York and Portugal. Which is just one more reason why I am passionate about what I do, because I never know where my work will take me!
Wedding photography has both evolved and come full circle over time. Gone are the days of cheesy gimmicks and awkard posing that gave wedding photographers the label of being uncool. Gritty yet romantic documentary story telling that captured the love, laughter and emotion of the day soon took its place with a revival in black and white photography bringing us back to the timeless imagery of the generations before us.
While colour plays an important role in my photography, I have always had a not-so-secret love affair with black and white photography too! While some images are simply meant for colour, there is something stripped back about a black and white image that allows you to feel the moment and see the story without distraction.
To quote Canadian photojournalist Ted Grant; "When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes, but when you photograph them in black and white, you photograph their souls."
Black and white photography has become a strong part of my documentary style over the years due to its emotive quality and timeless feel.
