My birthday weekend this year kicked off with a bang, when on the 19th September, I photographed Alastair and Amy’s fabulous wedding at The Bell Inn in Ticehurst, Sussex. I love photographing weddings at The Bell due to it’s relaxed atmosphere and quirkiness and the fact the team there really pull out the stops for their wedding couples. It seemed the perfect venue for Alastair and Amy who are such an incredibly warm and down to earth couple and were a pleasure to photograph on their big day. Alastair and Amy both work in the wine industry and live in London and chose The Bell as Amy had worked with them previously and loved the uniqueness of the venue. After an amazing honeymoon in Croatia, I caught up with Amy to find out more about the inspiration behind her gorgeous, intimate wedding…

1). Where was your dress from and who was the designer?

I decided on a vintage inspired shorter dress for my day from Clifford Burr in Ware and designed by Mooshki Bridal who specialise in quirky vintage wedding gowns.

2). Any favourite memories or special moments from the day?

All of it! It was the best day ever. I loved our red carpet walk down the table into The Bell for the confetti throwing and ringing the huge bell was fun even if it did burst a few ear drums! Ending the evening outside huddled by the firepit felt like the perfect end to a perfect day.

3) Who did your wedding hair?

I got my hair done by independent hair and make-up artist Marissa Findlater.

4) Why choose The Bell in Ticehurst?

I work in the wine industry and so knew The Bell through work. I loved the fact that it was a unique, more intimate space – just what we were looking for.  It’s quirky and full of character, relaxed and not too formal.

5) What was the theme for your wedding?

A bit ‘vintage’ a bit ‘homemade’.

6) Any advice to other brides planning their wedding?

Homemade favours are a lovely way to personalise wedding. We made strawberry jam and handmade jar covers. Oh and party bags to keep the kids entertained! Apart from that relax and enjoy it!

8) Where did you get your flowers and cake?

My flowers were from Wadhurst Flowers. my sister Jenny made our gorgeous cake and my niece Lorca played the cello for the ceremony.
