Last month I flew to the wonderful island of Mallorca for the weekend as a part social, part business trip to photograph a newly renovated house in the beautiful historical town of Pollensa.
Pollensa is situated in the far north corner of the island and is a bit of a hidden gem tucked away from the more traditional, commercialised, tourist spots of Mallorca. With a dramatic mountainous backdrop, the Roman old town, situated 5km inland from the port, oozes charm. With its cobbled little streets, stone built houses, markets and cosy little cafés and restaurants, it is a popular destination for families seeking a more relaxed, cultural experience from their holiday.
Even in November, the weather was fair. I even got the chance to sit on a sun lounger on the rooftop terrace of the house for an hour, with a glass of champagne, which was very welcome after an obscenely early start that day!
One of the town’s most distinctive features is the 365-step stairway north of the square; this leads up to a chapel on top of the hill known as Calvary where you will find a beautiful chapel.
Only two hours from the UK and with so much to offer, Mallorca really would make an amazing wedding destination. Whether it be in a private villa, a country mansion, by the beach or in a hotel in the mountains, there is so much diversity to the island, you really are spoilt for choice.

If you are considering marrying in Mallorca, you will need to complete the marriage paperwork in your country of residence by way of a civil ceremony. Once this has taken place, you can arrange to have a wedding celebration on the Island. This can include a service to be held in a church or venue of your choice, where you can repeat your vows, in front of your family and friends. However, if you have lived in Mallorca for 2 years and if you or your partner have Residencia (documentation that you officially live on the Island) then the civil ceremony prior to your big day will not be necessary and you will be allowed to formerly marry on the Island.
Mallorca would make a stunning location to photograph a wedding. With boundless opportunities to create breathtaking imagery, I would love the opportunity to photograph a wedding there.
