Sue Hill produces THE most beautiful childrenswear, whether it be a cashmere knit cardigan for your little one or a stunning outfit in one of their Liberty prints, there is no doubt that the quality of these clothes is second to none. The timeless classic clothing is hand made in the UK by Sue’s own team of dressmakers and knitters and sold both online and in her store on The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. No wonder celebrities such as Adele and Robbie Williams are fans of the brand…
I got to know Sue earlier this year when she was looking for a photographer to create something special to represent her latest collection of special occasion wear. My vision for the shoot was to create an Alice in Wonderland themed vintage tea party to compliment Sue’s stunning designs. Having researched a number of venues we found the perfect location in Chiddingstone Castle in Kent, which proved to be the perfect backdrop to photograph the children’s timeless outfits. With it’s breathtaking gardens and woodland and fabulous grounds it really was just what we were looking for. The weather leading up to the day was very touch and go but thankfully on the day, the Spring sunshine broke through ensuring we had some beautiful natural light to work with.
A special thank you to hair and make-up artist Nicola Downey for her fabulous effort with the children’s hair, Rosemary Shrager Patisserie for providing the wonderful afternoon tea, Chiddingstone Castle for allowing us to use their stunning castle grounds, Blooming Perfect Florists for the beautiful floral displays and hair pieces they provided, Paladone Products for the quirky Alice in Wonderland cake stand and tea pot and the YMCA furniture shop in Tunbridge Wells for their vintage dining chairs – perfect for the tea party! It was a great team of people that came together to make this photo shoot so special and magical but most importantly thank you to the wonderful little models (including two of my own children!) who showed such professionalism and patience on the day and their parents for all their support. Some of these children had never modelled before but despite their young ages they really did a fantastic job.
