Thursday of last week marked the day of the Sue Hill Childrenswear fashion shoot at Buxted Park Hotel, where I photographed Sue’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. It’s hard to believe that almost a year has passed since we first worked together on her SS15 collection, with a vintage inspired shoot at Chiddingstone Castle, proving what a busy year it has been for us both!
This was also my first opportunity to use my fantastic new Phottix lighting equipment which proved to be my best friend throughout the shoot. Although there was a lot of beautiful natural light that day, the Phottix Indra360 studio light was perfect as my main light source and helped lift the shadows and create a clean, fresh look to the images.
I have photographed weddings at Buxted Park Hotel before and have always loved it there. The rooms are just exquisite, the grounds are beautiful and the staff are always incredibly helpful and friendly. We were spoilt for choice in terms of beautiful backdrops to work with on the day and so worked out of two function rooms which fortunately were not being used that morning, as well as the stunning Orangery and the St Mary’s Suite (which we booked as our main base).
It was also an opportunity to work with the brilliant hair and make-up artist Nicola Downey who has been part of the team from the beginning and who once again did a brilliant job with the models hairstyling for the shoot. All the little models were fantastic on the day as were the patient Mummy’s who spent a lot of time encouraging the younger and baby models despite a few natural bouts of shyness and some inevitable tears from the babies! Thanks also to my wonderful partner and fellow photographer Barrie Downie who was an invaluable help to me on the day and who somehow amongst all the chaos of the day managed to put together enough footage to create the behind the scenes video at the beginning of this post!
